Today's Chuseok Day, 14-09-08 ( 추석 ) or Korea Thanksgiving Day. It's equivalent to Mooncake Festival back in China and for other Chinese people living all over the world. On this day, Koreans go back to their home, gather their family and make a type of kuih called 'Soong-Pyeon'. It's about the size but bigger then glutinous rice or better known as 'ee' by Penangites or 'Hokkien Lang'. Inside Soong-Pyeon is a sweet-sugary juice which is quite delicious. What's special about today is they make that special kuih and eat it for longevity, happiness and prosperity. They also pray to their ancestors offering various types of food such as fruits(pears/grapes), lots of types of Korean 'kuih'.
Well, anyway on Chuseok, there are 3 days holidays for everybody in Korea. So all the shops and whatever convenient stores are closed. For us foreigners living in Korea at this time, it's supposedly a boring time but there were some activities for us foreign students. On last Friday there was an exhibition on Chuseok. A display of the offerings on a table , a very low table, using joss-sticks for prayers and different kinds of food. here's an example below
Yesterday , there was a trip to Everland, the biggest theme park in Korea, organized by my korean language institute.

And also, on the 20th of September, Chee Keong, one of my best-est friend back in Penang, studied at the same school, same class , hang out, played and had laughs together is going to UK to further his studies. Pursuing your studies while living a life far from home alone is not only challenging, it's a tough decision to make to leave ur home, family and friends behind for a new life ahead but in the long run it's very rewarding. Living away from home, facing obstacles and uncertainties at times, it's just the ramblings of life. Keong, wish you all the best and hope we could meet again one day in Penang ^^ CHEERS to OUR Future~
